How to Detect if Someone's Stealing Your WiFi

It may be difficult to imagine, but 20 years ago, the  Internet  was just a novelty -- a means for incredibly smart college professors and researchers to spread information, and for some people to connect through the recently developed World Wide Web.  E-mail  was not like it is today. The old e-mail systems found at universities or even through accounts offered with the first Internet service providers (ISPs) like Prodigy and America Online were cumbersome to use. Back to the 2010s and things have changed considerable. Where as wired Internet kept us hooked to a desk, today's laptops and mobile devices give us access to friends and on ending entertainment just anywhere via WiFi, 3G and 4G technologies. While we use 3G and 4G data on our smartphones as we're out and move about in the world, WiFi still dominates in the home. And in coffee shops. And libraries. And airports. Thanks to the glut of wireless routers and hotspots, just like the old wired Internet connection

How to Use Amazon Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV works a lot like Apple TV and Roku set-top boxes. The basic idea is simple: Using a  remote control , you can make selections from on-screen menus featuring TV shows, movies and apps. First, you need to set up the Amazon Fire TV. Luckily, this is very easy. When your package arrives from  Amazon.com , you'll open it to find a small, square, black, plastic box, a remote control and a power cord. On the back of the box are ports for connecting it to your TV (HDMI) and to your home Internet connection (Ethernet). You have to supply your own cables. Amazon Fire TV is also WiFi-enabled, so you can connect to your home's WiFi network without the Ethernet cable [source:  Amazon ]. Simply connect the box to your TV using an HDMI cable and the box to your Internet modem using an Ethernet cable. (If you have WiFi, skip the latter step). Then plug in the power cord. There's no power button on the box. If it's plugged in, it's on [source:  Amazon ]. Wh

How Amazon Fire TV Works

Let's make one thing known. Amazon Fire TV is not actually a TV; it's just a streaming set-top box. A  set-top box  hooks up your TV to the Internet so you are able view streaming TV shows, movies and music on a bigger screen of your TV. Apple pionered this confusing trend by calling its set-top box Apple TV, which is actually not a TV. Amazon Fire TV was unveiled by online retailer Amazon in April 2014 and goes for $99, same price as the  Apple TV  and  Roku  3 set-top boxes. In 2014, just 8 percent of American households owned a set-top box, but  Amazon  is hinging on increased demand from viewers for streaming entertainment on TVs instead of "small-screen" laptops, tablets and smartphones [source:  Wood ]. One important thing you need to know before you get an Amazon Fire TV: The device is made to work with modern high-definition digital TVs and not the older, heavier analog ones. The only means to connect Amazon Fire TV to your TV is through an HDMI cable.
